    A Senior Executive with over 20 years of experience at both a strategic and operational level with energy infrastructure, manufacturing (B2B & B2C) and service businesses in Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Asia, Bernard has deep experience in consulting, business development, project management and P&L management. He has a proven track record in assembling and leading multidisciplinary teams that developed, acquired, built and/or improved $7bn+ worth of independent power project (IPP) in both PPA and merchant markets. He is passionate about leading the zero-carbon energy transition and building a more sustainable future.

    Senoko Energy is one of the largest vertically integrated energy utilities in Singapore. It has the largest licensed electricity generation capacity (2,807 MW) and retails to almost 16% of the contestable electricity market in Singapore.

    In 2017 he founded Avatar Commodities, harnessing his diverse commodity experience to successfully design, build & deliver commodity risk diagnostic tools, risk mitigation, trading & solution driven decision making strategy to embed significant & sustainable value for Anglo American & a number of global multinational companies.

    Most recently in addition, he has joined the new & innovative Viridios Capital to generate investor returns via unique proprietary AI technology deployed in carbon trading & ESG valuation via the 17 SGDs, while also contributing to evolution of the clean energy ecosystem.

    Ian is a registered Professional Engineer in South Africa and worked for Anglo American from 1995 to 2020, including the period 2014 to 2020 in Singapore as Head of Strategy, Origination & Planning (Thermal Coal) at Anglo American Marketing Limited Singapore Branch.

    After heading an Anglo American-owned manufacturing facility producing ceramic products, Ian transferred to its coal division in 1999. He led the marketing and logistics functions in Colombia during the acquisition and establishment of the Carbones del Cerrejón joint venture, a large coal mining operation. In this role, he established the CMC company in Dublin, Ireland, which is responsible for marketing of Cerrejón coal. He rejoined Anglo American in South Africa in 2003 where he worked in various business development, project and strategy roles. Ian was transferred to marketing in Singapore in 2014 to develop Anglo American’s global thermal coal marketing strategy, establish and support its trading activities and was responsible for marketing of Australian thermal coal.

    Ian returned to South Africa in 2020 where he serves as non-executive director of a coal trading and brokerage firm.

    After having graduated as Business Engineer (Solvay Business School – Brussels, Belgium), Francois-Xavier integrated a management traineeship within BNP Paribas group for which he worked for five years mostly in the corporate banking sector. More than five years ago, he joined Fluxys where he has held different positions in the commercial and then M&A/Business Development team. He recently relocated to Singapore from where he is in charge of launching Fluxys’ M&A/Business Development activities in APAC region where the group intends to deploy equity.
