Join us for afternoon sundowners with South Africa's leading wine, Boschendal, from the comfort of your own home. This is not just a wine tasting event but an effort to support and save the wine industry in South Africa, due to the difficulties the industry has faced with local and international trade constraints.


The #JobsSaveLives campaign​ calls on President Cyril Ramaphosa's government to allow the sale of alcohol in sit-down restaurants and relax the 9pm curfew imposed earlier this month. The #SaveSAWine campaign​ is calling on wine drinkers outside of South Africa to support the local wine industry by buying and drinking South African wine. Here is our chance to come together in solidarity and show our support.


Devon Lochhead, DGB Regional Manager for Asia, who judges for the Decanter Asia Wine Awards (DAWA) and the China Wine & Spirits Awards (CWSA), and has recently returned from working a harvest in South Africa, will join the discussion and conduct the tasting. The following topics will be discussed:


  1. Introduction to Boschendal, the 2nd Oldest Winery of South Africa (by just one week)
  2. Boschendal in Asia during Covid-19
  3. Boschendal (The Wine Industry) in South Africa, and the impact of Covid-19 and the alcohol ban
  4. An introduction to wine trade in Singapore and South East Asia


Adding to the discussion, we will have a local wine retailer, Cherie Lim Ball from Wine to Share, who will share her passion for selling wine in Singapore to many loyal customers, as well as the successes and challenges she has seen over her years of experience in the industry.

    Regional Manager at DGB

    The Wine bug bit while a student, working evenings at Wickerwoods Restaurant in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. After graduating, Devon pursued his Love for wine and moved to Hong Kong. His career in HK began with Kedington wines, which is where he worked, studied and learned more about the industry. Thereafter, he had the opportunity to move to Black Sheep Restaurants Group where he worked his way up to Head Sommelier. Devon has now teamed up with DGB as Regional Manager for Asia and promotes a number of South Africa’s most renowned & traditional wineries throughout the region.

    Constantly studying & improving his knowledge in wine, Devon has gone through his WSET Levels, completing his Level 4 (Diploma) and has completed French Wine Scholar (FWS), South African Cape Wine Ambassador Qualification and is currently doing his (IWS) Italian Wine Scholar.

    Cherie Lim - Ball is the Founder and Director of Wine To Share, an online retail store specializing in South African wine. Her love affair with South African wine began in 2000 on her first visit to the Cape Winelands, and she and her husband have been importing SA wines ever since. She has a WSET Level 3 certification and, until recently when Covid restrictions began, has been hosting private wine appreciation sessions alongside Wine To Share's online retail offering.
